Response time
Within 1–2 business days
Messages sent over a weekend or holiday are answered the next business day.
Email is not a secure channel. Do not send Social Security numbers, tax returns, bank or brokerage statements, account numbers, or identification documents by email or through a web form. If your matter requires those documents, we will send you a secure upload link.
What to include in your message
A short message with the following gets you a useful answer faster:
- where you are in the process — considering marriage, negotiating a prenup, separating, mid-divorce, or already filed;
- your state of residence, and your spouse's if different;
- whether business income, K-1 interests, rental property, or equity compensation is involved;
- whether there are children, and whether dependency claims are in dispute;
- any deadline you are working toward — a settlement conference, a court date, or a filing deadline; and
- whether you already have a family-law attorney.
You do not need to send documents or figures at this stage. A paragraph is enough.
Before you write
A few things worth knowing:
- Contacting us does not create a CPA-client relationship. A professional relationship begins only when we issue a written engagement letter and you sign it. See our Disclaimer.
- We do not give legal advice. We do not draft agreements or advise on custody, support entitlement, or the terms of a settlement. Those belong with a licensed family-law attorney in your state.
- Engagements are confidential. Where an engagement is undertaken for one spouse individually, we do not disclose it to the other spouse except as required by law or as you authorize in writing.
- Pricing. Engagements are priced by complexity rather than by the hour and start in the five figures. You receive a fixed quote in writing before any work begins.
- Availability is limited each month, and we may decline a matter where a conflict of interest exists.
